Report on the 2nd Annual General Assembly
Session of Calunah of South Florida

There are many unforgettable and happy memories left from this second
session. Its first objective was to end the two year term of the first executive
board. This board was led by Mr. Julien Marcelin, President. He was
assisted by Past. Billy Leveille, Vice President, Mrs. Dominique Belle-Fleur,
Secretary; Mr. Fritz Jean, Treasurer, Mr. George Aristide, Assistant-
Treasurer, Past. Emmanuel A. Jean Pierre and Mrs. Huguette Grunder as
Advisers. The second objective was to name a new board for the upcoming
two year term.

The following officers played a key role during this session:

Calunah Central: Mr. Gueus Robert, President, Mr. Jean Claude Blaise,
Public Relations Coordinator.

Université Adventiste d’Haïti: Mr. Josué Pierre, Président

Calunah Haiti: Dr. Greger Figaro, President

Calunah of South Florida: Julien Marcelin, President, Mrs. Dominique Belle-
Fleur, Secretary, Mr. Fritz Jean, Treasurer, Mr. George Aristide, Assistant-
Treasurer and Past. Emmanuel A. Jean Pierre, Adviser.

1)        The session started in the morning with a lively Sabbath school
program planned and executed by the Hebron SDA church with the
assistance of Calunah South Florida.

2)        The assembly for the Sabbath worship service was made up of
special guests, Hebron SDA church members, various church choirs and
musical groups. They were introduced to the Calunah South Florida
members.

Here are the key points of the program:

Mr. Eddy Simplice greeted everyone with warm words of welcome. Then,
Mr. Guéus Robert read the text of Esther 2:10-11, 15 followed by the adult
choir of Hebron SDA Church. Mr. Josué Pierre led everyone to the throne
of God with an intercessory prayer for the assembly and the University. A
special song by the sisters Marthe Jean and Nolda Samson was followed by
a special report and call to action on the urgent needs of the University by
Sr. Manise Dugué.

The group “Virtuose” came next in a beautiful song then Past. Asser Jean
Pierre introduced the participants to the assembly. The Hebron choir came
back with an inspirational song just before the Praise service. Finally, the
high point of the morning service came: Past. Michelin F. Verne inspired
the audience with a speech on: “Knowing, Knowing yourself, Know-How  
and Savoir vivre” (Le Savoir, Le Savoir être, Le Savoir faire, et Le Savoir-
vivre). After such a captivating sermon, Pst. Wesley Pierre closed the
morning service with a special blessing prayer.

3)        The administrative portion of the session was held in the afternoon
from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. The dynamism of the Master of Ceremony, Mr.
Ricardo Lefevre, kept everyone abreast on the various point to be
executed: Concert, Various reports, Elections, Promotions and Open forum.

a)        Mr. Jean Claude Blaise started the program with the customary
prayer. Then the first part of the concert took off with Sr. Ledna Honoré, Sr.
Rachelle Olivier, and Sr. Lilas Dimanche successively.

b)        Past. Emmanuel Jean Pierre introduced the member of the board
who were to present various reports of the association’s activities from July
2007 to July 2009. In succession came the President, Mr. Julien Marcelin,
the Secretary, Mrs. Dominique Belle-Fleur, the Treasurer, Mr. Fritz Jean.
The audience was especially pleased and applauded warmly the facts that
the association had acquired the 501-C3 status, increased in membership
and held bi-weekly administrative meetings. They were also happy to learn
that Calunah South Florida has already sent about $10,000.00 to the
university including materials and financial support for some students.

c)        The program continued with two musical selections by the Hebron
choir and the group “Virtuose” before proceeding to the elections of a new
executive committee. The counsel of directors represented by Mr. Josué
Pierre, President of the University recommended some names to the
assembly and the following persons were elected for a two year term (July
2009-July 2011):

d)         The second part of the concert started with the group « Jaspe »
followed by the “Filles de l’Aurore” and Bro Edony Princivil in a beautiful
instrumental performance.

Dr.Greger Figaro presented a report of the activities of Calunah Haiti.
Then, it was the turn of Mr. Josué Pierre, the president of the University
who praise Calunah South Florida for its generosity and sacrifices. He was
especially grateful for the financial assistance of Calunah South Florida
members in the wireless internet project. The completion of this project
allows wireless internet access throughout the campus. He presented
several projects with emphasis on the most pressing “Repair of the drinking
water system”, necessary to bring water to all the buildings. The “Open
Forum” segment was very lively and brought many questions and useful
suggestions for the university from the audience. A considerable number of
people decided to join the Calunah South Florida and $3,500.00 was
collected towards the projects of the university. At 7:00 PM, the session
was brought to a close with a prayer by Mr. Jean Claude Castor who also
thanked everyone for their participation

Special thanks to everyone who helped make this session an unforgettable
event. Your presence, participation and financial support help revive this
christian institution whose objective is to mold our youth’s character in
order to enable them to serve both in this life and the one to come.

Special thanks to Pastor Michelin Verne, to the church board, and the great
congregation of Hebron of SDA church for their warmth and hospitality. May
God continue to bless you all!
