CALUNAH President Message

Distinguished Alumni and Friends of the Adventist University of Haiti:

As you may know, I have served as the chairman of the executive committee of
CALUNAH for two years,  from 2007-2009. In August 2009, I was nominated by the
Board of Directors to serve for two more years. Therefore, for the next two years, I will
serve  again as president of CALUNAH whose central office is in New York.

During my first two years, thanks to the hard work, cooperation, patriotism of the
committee members and the South Florida and Montreal, Canada Chapter presidents
and you, our  faithful supporters, we were able to accomplish the following of which we
are proud:

  • Acquisition of the 501(C3) status from the Internal Revenue Service, thanks to
    our treasurer, Witly Paul
  • Establishment of a strategic plan for CALUNAH
  • Establishment of an Endowment Fund aiming at collecting $1,000,000.00 for the
Adventist University of Haiti whose interest only will be used to help the school
    finance its projects.
  • Revitalization of the  South Florida Chapter with Mr. Julien  Marcelin as president.
  • Revitalization of the Canada CALUNAH chapter with Mr. Roselor François as
    president
  • Establishment of a Scholarship Fund whose applications are available on our
web site  www.calunah.org, which is now ready, thanks to your support,  to
award $6000.00 US dollars to 13 qualified University Students as of January
    2010
  • Gift of de $7000.00 to help the university complete an Internet Project, which
allows wireless internet access throughout the campus to which the South
    Florida Chapter contributed $3,500.00
  • Gift of $5000.00 to UNAH that was used to complete an Inverter Project for the
boy and girl dormitories as a result of which both dormitories enjoy electricity 24
    hours a day
  • Shipment of 52 boxes of books by the Canada CALUNAH chapter.
  • Revitalization the New Jersey Chapter, with Pastor Yveniel Saint Luc as President
  • Establishment of a Pennsylvania, CALUNAH Chapter with Pastor Daniel Sejour
as President  and Maryland, with Pastor Lesly Moise as President

For the next two years our objectives are the following:

  • Raise $100,000.00 toward the $1,000,000.00 endowment fund whose interest
only will be used to help the University with its projects
  • Revitalize the Massachusetts CALUNAH Chapter
  • Establish a chapter in Orlando, Florida and Connecticut
  • Help the school acquire a sound system badly needed for the auditorium, which
    will cost about $10,000.00
  • Help the school acquire two Bultz Water Pumps which will be used to repair  the
drinking water system necessary to bring water to all the buildings on campus at
    a cost of $30,000.00

All these goals are achievable with your support and your determination to be judged
by history as a group of proud, patriotic, and  loyal people who helped make a
difference in the life of a school that gave us so much and to which we are all indebted.

We thank you for what you have done in the past because if we were able to help the
school complete some of its projects, it was because of your generosity.  Therefore,
we know we can continue to count on you so that the objectives we want to accomplish
within the next two years can become a reality. At the end, we will be able to say just
like President Obama “ Yes we did”, and we will be very proud of our achievements.

We thank all of you for your support, but we would like to give special thanks to the
families who have made the scholarship funds possible. A list of scholarship recipients
will soon be available on the website.

  • Doctor Waldeck Charles and family
  • Pasteur Joseph Saint Jean and family
  • Doctor Harold Robert and family
  • The Brutus and  Legrand families - Dr. Jessy L. Brutus Memorial Scholarship
    Funds
  • Morija SDA Church (Manhattan)

We invite more families and institutions to join this movement so that we can give a
helping hand to our countrymen who expect so much from us.

As we approach the new year, we hope that you will stay connected to the Adventist
University of Haiti and will all join hands to help make this school, our alma mater, a
better place.

On behalf of all the members of the executive committee of CALUNAH and also in the
names of all the chapter presidents in North America and Canada,  and the president
of the Adventist University of Haiti,  I wish you a healthy and prosperous new CALUNAH
Year 2010.

Respectfully,

Gueus Robert, President
