Message from the President
Dear Calunahans:
I have the privilege of announcing to you that the Legrand and Brutus families have chosen the
CALUNAH Foundation to be the manager of the Dr. Jessy L. Brutus Memorial Scholarship Fund, a
scholarship they have established to memorialize Jessy who was a generous person.
The families have made this decision because Jessy was a very generous supporter and believer of our
organization. Her dream was to see the organization grow so it can do for the Adventist University of Haiti
what the Alumni Associations of the universities of America do for their universities.
This memorial fund will help CALUNAH in its effort to gather funds from families, individuals, and
organizations in order to help as many Haitian children as possible have access to education, which will
contribute a great deal in determining their character as human beings.
Jessy believed very much in the transforming power of education. While she was alive, she helped
finance the education of many Haitian students. This scholarship established on her name will help
continue this humanitarian work she took pride in, and in which she found so much pleasure.
We congratulate the families for such a noble initiative, and we would like to take this opportunity to tell
them how much we appreciated Jessy. She was a true philanthropist who cared very much about those
who were not as fortunate as she was. She never missed not even one of our events. She supported
us not only financially, but also with her advice, which were very valuable.
We wish the families affected by this lost our most sincere condolences.
