It is with profound sadness that the Alumni Association of the Adventist University of Haiti (CALUNAH) announces the passing of our beloved Co-Founder and Chairman, Dr. Japhe Roberne Saint Louis, who entered his eternal rest on July 25, 2026, surrounded by his family at his residence in Florida.
For more than thirty years, Dr. Saint Louis served as the guiding light of CALUNAH, uniting thousands of alumni in service to Christian education and the future of Haiti. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts and in our mission, yet his memory will continue to inspire every student supported, every scholarship awarded, and every act of service carried out in the name of this organization he helped found.
We invite the entire CALUNAH family, alumni, and friends to join us in honoring his memory and celebrating a life of extraordinary service.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, and all the members of CALUNAH, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Roberne Saint Louis, especially to his beloved wife, Mrs. Lynouse Saint Louis, his children, and all who mourn his passing.
Today, we honor not only a respected educator and leader but also the visionary founder of CALUNAH. In 1993, Dr. Roberne Saint Louis and his wife established this organization with a simple yet powerful mission: to unite alumni of the Adventist University of Haiti and invest in the education of future generations. His vision continues to inspire everything we do.
Dr. Saint Louis believed that education could transform lives and that those who have received much have a responsibility to give back. He led with humility, integrity, and compassion, leaving an enduring example of humble service. His wisdom, generosity, and steadfast commitment to excellence enriched countless lives and strengthened our organization.
The words of 2 Timothy 4:7 inscribed at the entrance of this tribute reflect his life with perfect fidelity. He served faithfully, led with purpose, and left an enduring mark that will continue through every student supported, every scholarship awarded, and every life touched by CALUNAH.
While we grieve today, we also find comfort in Christ's promise found in John 11:25:
As people of faith, we believe this is not goodbye but "until we meet again." May his purpose, his leadership, and his tireless commitment to education and service live on. On behalf of CALUNAH, we pledge to honor his memory by continuing the work he so passionately began. His example will forever remain a guiding light for our organization and for generations to come.
May God comfort his family and grant him peaceful rest until the glorious resurrection morning.

“Today, we honor the life and legacy of a truly remarkable man of God, an exceptional leader, and the visionary founder of CALUNAH. His passing leaves a profound void in our hearts, but his influence and the seeds he planted will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.
He was a compassionate and caring leader whose unwavering love for L’UNAH was unmatched. The university was more than an institution to him. It was his passion, his mission, and a cause he faithfully championed throughout his life. Having begun his journey there as a theology student, he dreamed of seeing L’UNAH grow and flourish, and he devoted himself wholeheartedly to helping make that dream a reality.
As Chairman of CALUNAH, he led with wisdom, humility, and vision. He inspired countless alumni to unite in support of our beloved university, always encouraging us to strive for excellence and to give back to the school that had given so much to us. His counsel was invaluable, and whenever challenges arose, we could turn to him for thoughtful advice and guidance that always reflected his deep faith and genuine concern for the future of L’UNAH.
On a personal note, his impact reached far beyond the organization. My husband had the privilege of knowing him from a very young age. As a boy of only ten living at the dormitory, he looked up to him as a mentor and father figure. Through his kindness, encouragement, and example, he helped shape the character and faith of a young boy who never forgot the influence of such a caring and godly man.
His life was a testimony of servant leadership, unwavering faith, and selfless dedication. Though we grieve his loss, we also celebrate a life well lived, a life that honored God, uplifted others, and left an enduring legacy of hope, service, and love.
We will miss his wisdom, his leadership, his compassion, and his steadfast commitment to L’UNAH and CALUNAH. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his vision will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the work he loved so dearly.
May God grant comfort and peace to his family, friends, and the entire CALUNAH and L’UNAH community. May we honor his legacy by continuing the mission he began with the same faith, dedication, and love that defined his life.

En 1993, avec son épouse, Mme Lynouse Dubreuze Saint-Louis, il a fondé CALUNAH avec la vision de mobiliser les anciens élèves et collaborateurs de l’Université Adventiste d’Haïti (UNAH) et leurs amis, afin de soutenir l’œuvre de cette institution, de promouvoir l’éducation chrétienne et d’offrir aux étudiants haïtiens les moyens de réaliser leurs rêves.
Homme de foi, de conviction et de service, Dr Saint-Louis a consacré sa vie à former, inspirer et servir. Il était également très généreux, allant jusqu’à puiser dans ses propres ressources pour la cause. Son leadership, son humilité et son amour pour Dieu, pour l’UNAH et pour la jeunesse haïtienne ont laissé une empreinte profonde qui continuera d’inspirer les générations futures.

On behalf of the CALUNAH Georgia Chapter and in my own name, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Saint Louis family and the entire CALUNAH community.
Although I did not know Dr. Japhe Roberne Saint Louis personally, I had the privilege of crossing paths with him on several occasions while living in New York. I will always remember his warm smile, his powerful voice, and the messages of faith, hope, and love that touched so many lives.
As I became more involved with CALUNAH, I grew to admire his remarkable dedication to the calling he helped build in 1993. His faithful leadership, compassion, and commitment to helping others reflected a life wholly devoted to God and to the advancement of education and service.
May his memory continue to guide us as we carry forward the work he so faithfully nurtured.
A gentle giant is peacefully resting, awaiting the moment when his Creator, his Father, will call him back to rise in the final days. May the Lord bring comfort and solace to the Saint Louis family during this difficult time.

Le guide disparaît, mais les valeurs, les actes transmis continuent de vivre en nous. Oh, quelle espérance que celle de la résurrection!
En attendant que ce jour vienne, rapprochons-nous de Dieu. Et qu’il nous affermisse en toute œuvre et parole qui soient bonnes. Que le Tout Puissant vienne déverser dans nos cœurs sa consolation face à cette perte.
My earliest recollection of Pastor Dr. Roberne St. Louis goes back to my childhood in Haiti. I was about 10 or 11 years old when he served as the Youth Director and organized a youth and Pathfinder camp. I still remember the excitement of those days, the activities, the friendships, and the positive influence he had on all of us. It was at that camp that I was selected as the Best Camper, a recognition that remains a cherished memory. Even at that young age, I admired Pastor Roberne’s strength, his passion for young people, and his remarkable ability to inspire and lead.
Fast forward two decades, and our paths crossed again. This time, it was not as a young camper looking up to a youth leader, but as colleagues working together in ministry. He served as Chairman, and I had the privilege of serving as President of the New Jersey Chapter. Watching him lead from that perspective only deepened my respect for him.
Pastor Dr. Roberne St. Louis was a skilled administrator, a leader par excellence, and, above all, a devoted man of God. His leadership was marked by wisdom, integrity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to God’s work. He had the unique ability to inspire confidence, unite people around a common purpose, and serve with grace and conviction.
Although we mourn his passing and feel the pain of this temporary separation, we do not grieve without hope. As believers, we cling to the blessed promise that soon and very soon, Jesus Christ will return. On that glorious day, He will put an end to all sickness, all cancer, all pain, and every tear. Death itself will be swallowed up in victory, and those who have fallen asleep in Christ will rise to everlasting life. Until that joyful reunion, we thank God for the life, the ministry, and the enduring legacy of Pastor Dr. Roberne St. Louis. May his memory be a blessing and may we all strive to live with the same faith, dedication, and hope that he so beautifully exemplified.
Dr. Roberne was a personable, compassionate, and devoted leader whose life positively impacted everyone he encountered. One example of his remarkable character and genuine love for others was when he traveled from Orlando to Miami in the spring of 2024 to visit my mother as she battled cancer. She, too, eventually succumbed to the disease.
During one of the most difficult seasons of my life, Dr. Roberne and his wife called to pray with me when I needed it most. That act of kindness is a true testament to his servant’s heart. His sense of humor was also a healing balm, bringing comfort and hope even in challenging times.
Dr. Roberne will be deeply missed. We are keeping his wife, children, grandchildren, and the entire family in our prayers during this difficult time.

I remember the day I received my scholarship from CALUNAH. I didn't know then that the vision behind it was Dr. Roberne's. Now I do, and I will never forget what he made possible for my family.
The Life of Dr. Saint Louis
Dr. Japhe Roberne Saint Louis lived a life of dedicated, remarkable service in Christian ministry, education, mentorship, and philanthropy spanning beyond five decades. Born on May 25, 1948, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the youngest of ten siblings, he carried from his earliest years a spirit of humility and an unwavering commitment to serve. With his positive mindset and energetic devotion to community, he transformed countless lives and established a legacy that will continue to bless future generations.
He began his formative journey through the Adventist educational system at the institution formerly known as Institut Adventiste Franco-Haitien (IAFH), now named Université Adventiste d’Haïti (UNAH). In the School of Theology, he demonstrated an extraordinary passion for serving young people and advancing Christian education. Even as a student, he taught English, Religion, and Physical Education, and served as an assistant to the school’s principal, the late Dr. Serge Vernet, revealing the servant leadership that would define his entire life’s work.
After earning his degree in Theology, he accepted the call to serve as Youth Director for the Haiti South Mission, developing vibrant youth ministries and community outreach programs that inspired an entire generation to deepen their faith and become active servants in their communities.
In 1983, he married the love of his life, Lynouse Dubreuze, and together they began a new chapter of service in Canada, where he pastored the St. Léonard Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1990, the family relocated to the United States, where he faithfully served multiple congregations in New York (Bethanie, Hebron, Maranatha, Emmanuel, and Mahanaim) and later Salem Seventh-day Adventist Church in Boston, Massachusetts. During this period, he completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at Andover Newton Seminary at Yale Divinity School in May 2017, further equipping him for a lifetime of ministry and leadership.
Dr. Saint Louis’ proudest accomplishment was being the father of five grown children and finding joy as a fun and devoted grandfather. In 2017, he retired as an ordained minister from the Northeastern Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Yet retirement never diminished his service. In December 1993, returning from a Week of Prayer in Haiti and deeply moved by the needs of his alma mater, he had gathered alumni in New York and founded CALUNAH. He served as its first Executive President and, until his final days, as Chairman of the Board of Directors. On July 25, 2026, Dr. Saint Louis passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. His departure leaves a profound void, but his legacy endures in every life he touched.
A Legacy Measured in Lives Changed

Gathered alumni at restaurant La Détente in Queens, New York in December 1993, giving birth to the organization that would change thousands of lives.
Led CALUNAH as its founding President, establishing its mission, structure, and culture of philanthropic service.
Created scholarships supporting UNAH students in theology, business, education, nursing, and secondary education.
Established a feeding program ensuring students struggling with food insecurity could continue their education with dignity.
Funded construction of a bridge over Boulevard Perrin, a long pedestrian walkway through the school campus, earthquake relief repairs to the auditorium and dormitory, and establishment of the university library.
Guided CALUNAH’s 2005 reorganization into a national nonprofit with six chapters: New York, New England, South Florida, Central Florida, Delaware-Maryland-Virginia, and Georgia.
Partnered in establishing a sustainable water purification and bottling plant at UNAH, generating long-term revenue to support the university and provide clean water to the community.
Donated musical instruments to enrich UNAH campus worship, student life, and the arts community.
Served as Chairman of the Board until his passing in 2026, providing wisdom, encouragement, and steadfast leadership for over three decades.
